Museums
• The castel museum Founded in 1876 by Arthur de la Borderie, a local historian, the museum, housed within the castle, typifies the encyclopedic spirit of the 19th century. Its main theme is the representation of the medieval castle but decorative and historical aspects of the town's architecture are also presented.
• St Nicholas' museum This former chapel, built in the 15th and 16th centuries as part of the hospital, houses a collection of religious artefacts made by silver - and goldsmiths mostly during the 19th and early 20th centuries.
• Rochers-Sévigné Manorhouse Madame de Sévigné's Breton home, typifies the traditional layout of the 17th century manorhouse in the region. Inside is an exhibition of objects, furniture and portraits connected with Madame de Sévigné.
• The Faucillonnaie museum This museum is devoted to the rural heritage of the Vitré area. Domestic objects, garments, furniture and paintings are exhibited in different parts of the building.
Opening hours and prices • 1st April to 30th June : Daily 10 a.m. to 12 a.m. and 2 p.m. to 5.30 p.m. • 1st July to 30th September : Daily 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. (Without interruption) • 1st October to 31st March : 10 a.m. to 12 a.m. and 2 p.m. to 5.30 p.m. (Closed on Tuesday - Closed on Saturday, Sunday, Monday mornings)
